Penguins, Christmas (already) and New Adventures.

Ping Penguin signs ready for their new home at Living Coasts.
Final snakes and ladders game.

Christmas Illustrations to surround 2013 menu.
So, today was my last day at the zoo which is sad but also good as I'm moving on to exciting new things!
Here's a little selection of projects and outcomes. My Ping penguin vinyls all mounted on Forex and ready to go to their new home at Living Coasts. My final massive printed snakes and ladders came in a couple of weeks ago now, so here that is and a project I worked on today, just a few Christmassy Illustrations to go around the outside of a 2013 Christmas menu- Even though i feel we haven't had summer yet.

I'll update again soon with things I've missed off my hardrive, Over and out :)

(Eco) Snakes and ladders

Some work from a lovely project I've had recently. This was designing a game Eco snakes and ladders showing the effects of being Eco friendly (or not) around the home. This aims to educate people on what they can do to reduce their 'Eco footprint'. Snakes lead to illustrations depicting negative consequences of the captions stated and ladders to more positive and happy environments/habitats.

Penguin + Eco Game

Hello everyone, A little update of some zoo work for you all to see. The penguin that is featured on Living coasts website and other materials name is Ping and last week I created a design for a Ping penguin shaped board to replace older boards at Living Coasts on which information is to be displayed in a frame in the middle section.
I finished laminating and putting together the Eco cards game illustration and it's now displayed on the game so here's a picture of that too. Enjoying working on a exciting new project illustrating a giant snakes and ladders game which I'm finding really fun, doing lots of different bits and pieces, so hopefully I'll post a bit on that soon. Over and out :)

Eco Game

Hello all, here's a little bit I was going to post on Friday, a bit of work I did at the zoo last week, just a little illustration for a board to describe the game 'Play your Eco Cards right' -think its similar to the original, only its a bit more educational. The cards show things like amount of carbon produced. The board is going to be put outside so that visitors are able to use it there (once it stops raining) so the design was laminated on sticky back and stuck to it.
That's all from me right now. Over and out :)

90th and 10th Birthday card

Smello all, here's the card for Paignton Zoo & Living Coasts Birthday I finished off today. The background bits and pieces were all made up in Illustrator then I Photoshopped the animal photos, taken by zoo volunteers to make the animals jump out of the box (though in reality I think the lion would have eaten the others.) Got a nice project today not dissimilar to my inspired by nature border a couple of weeks back, but this time to decorate a board for a game to educate about biodiversity and the impact of your Eco footprint. Will keep you updated :) Over and out.

Inspired by Nature Border

Evening all, Here's a little photo of my finished Inspired by Nature border as mentioned in previous posts, today I got some time to stick it all together after all the laminating and cutting. If i remember rightly it's about 12 A3 sheets all together so its bit a bit of a fiddly job but I'm glad it's all finally done and hopefully spruces up the board a little bit. So the idea is that you match the animal with the close up and the invention it inspired.
Today I also continued cutting out zoo animals from photographs in Photoshop in preparation to turn them into fact files in the new zoo branding. I also started work on a GIANT birthday card for Living Coasts/Paignton Zoo - (A bit like my previous Christmas cards) as the zoo is 90! and Living Coasts 10 years old.
Off on tiny long weekend break next week so expect to hear from me in 2 weeks! Over and out :)

Spring Poem Illustration 15/2/13
Just a little post to show something I did last week, tried to bring it back home with me before now but my memory stick died on me. disappointing. So anyway, here's some illustration for the poem shown, all spring themed and lovely. The poem gets read out and stuck on the wall to children attending Monday Monkeys club at the zoo, the plan is that there will be a series of seasonal poems for them to access eventually.Over and out :)

Nature Border/ Living Coasts visit.

Inspired by Nature border I created last week to surround a big pin board to be used within education at the zoo. The title refers to pictures that are stuck on the board itself using velcro, matching animals with the invention/product they have inspired. The border is to make it more interactive and colourful for children.
I took A visit over to Living coasts today to see some of the projects I have been working on at the zoo up and displayed. Here's the Mangrove Jellyfish sign.

Penguin Activity Station/ Penny Press Sign

Activity Station poster for Living Coasts, this is number 1 there are 10 in total and the poster gives school groups an indication of where they have to stop and do certain activities on the site.

Penny press sign, Just making the background a bit more interesting by adding some seaweed and coins. The original sign just had a plain background with the instructions and coin options shown.

Hello! Apologizes for the lack of posting recently, HAPPY NEW YEAR (and February) I hope to have some more interesting things to show you all soon including a nice illustrated border. Until then.. :)
